WARNING: DO NOT SIGN UP!! TCI USES EMOTIONAL MANIPULATION TO GET YOUR MONEY IN A CULT LIKE ENVIRONMENT

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

This so called ‘school’ is only about manipulation and brainwashing people. They are only INTERESTED IN YOU MONEY - not education or training at all.

They over promise something they cannot deliver and they tell you that it is YOUR FAULT. TCI is a cult like environment. For more info on the way TCI operates, read the “Disturbing allegations and legal disputes: Inside 'Australia's #1 Life Coaching School”. They are an embarrassment to Australia.

Let’s spread the word.

Call Consumer Affairs Victoria and send them your contract and they will assist you. Also, add negative comments to their Facebook page or the videos they have on youtube. They cannot remove the comments from Youtube. Also report them with ACCC.

This needs to stop!!!

For a refund, go to a local court and ask for a petty claim against them.

TCI could not be bothered going to a local court. Keep pushing!

When you realize the course is rubbish and wanted to quit, they would refer the rules in a so called student handbook and ask you to pay the rest of the course.

However, the handbook was not mention and not available during the process of your sign up. But if you use search engine in their website put key word “ student hand book”, you will find out its there and put in a very tricky way that you do need pay the whole course no matter how shifty the course is.

I encourage all of you to leave google reviews for TCI (on TCI google ratings). Then others too will get this information and would hopefully not fall into their trap and suffer.

We need do something to stop this avoid more people become victims. I notice TCI has been using this scam and brain washing for many years to rip off money.

I admit I didn’t do lots of research before I enroll. Not many people have cool head to see clear of their cult character. Not many people would always searched this website when they do the research.

It is hopeless to hear this company would revenge on previous student with influence on government and other big company. The company is a shame and disgrace of Australia education and consumer system.

Khyla Aov

I wish I can get my money back. After paid $18,000 still don’t know how to coach and have no client.

The withdraw only bring me about more debt ($8,000). The only thing I leant is Sharon Pearson is a hero, every one worship this owner. The study material are poor in quality.

It is dreadful to hear this cult company has connection and protected by government. Can anyone help with advice?

Criminal Minds at TCI

The Coaching Institute - Criminal Minds at TCI

Do yourself a huge favour and walk away from TCI..a friend spent over $50K on their so called education and they could not give her the "diploma" she had signed up for....they are NOT a coaching business, they are a sales and marketing business run by an ex real estate agent and a failed story writer (who wrote about criminology mind you) and also has a degree in commerce. Sharon Pearson openly admitted that each person that comes through her doors is a potential $20K increase in her annual income.

They are raking in millions of dollars a year by selling you something they insist you need rather than giving you what you want. If you get sucked in, you will become an avid believer for a time......until you finally wake up to yourself, and to them and the thousands of dollars they have fleeced from you. You'll then have to somehow pick up the pieces of your life and they will crush you to make you continue to "pay out your contract" because of the "financial commitment" you made to them. They'll call in debt collectors, threaten you with lawyers and literally send people to knock on your door for the money they say you owe them.

Good people have lost their marriages, their homes and their financial freedom because of the cunning strategies of "The coaching institute"......If you do get caught and sucked in and finally wake up to the scam, go directly to the consumer affairs website to discover just how many laws they have breeched!!

VCAT have seen many cases now and I believe they will be seeing many more..... ASQA, VCAT, ABNLP and ACCC are sick to death of hearing about this company and the 1000s of people who have been burnt by them.

Sharon Pearson boasts on the back of one book that she earns in excess of $5,000,000 every year elsewhere she says $10,000,000. That’s a lot of money from Life Coaching only thing it’s not Life Coaching its Life Stealing. Well, i must admit that i was another that got caught up in the TCI money making machine. Around about $45k, a lost marriage and still paying for it.

They are good at selling. The bully you and make you feel obligated to imrove yourself to be like them.

I witnnessed one day in the office SP, the owner, come in one day and checked the sales board and seen it was a poor day and yelled out " where is my *** money"

Honestly, stay clear of this money making juganaught that do not care whatsoever about peoples livelyhoods. I have forgiven them, but not forgotten.

Contact me please, I have nothing to do with TCI . I am not frightened of Sharon Pearson or her minions.

You are not alone!! There are many, many others. The ball is rolling and it’s not too late, I’m taking this back to the beginning. I don’t care how long ago it was.The individual dollar amount that she “takes people for” has been considered too minimal for people to follow through with their own individual Legal Action as their fees can run higher than the actual debt she says you owe.

That’s why I need YOU!!

Whoever you are I need to hear your story.Relevant Authorities and Media have been contacted and returned contact and are doing there own investigations.A VCAT hearing has been applied for by a past “ripped off” student and there is a general public gallery for those wanting to come along to watch or for support. I shall put up the date of the hearing as advised. Please go to Instagram angrytcistudents and like and follow or you can email direct classactionlc@***.comCheers Annette

Good and Bad..and then mostly ugly

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I commenced with TCI very positively in 2010. I started with the intake weekend which is what it was called back then. During the weekend I was sold into the Diploma program. I think I am one of few people who actually completed it. The reason I expended the effort of completing the program was that I loathed the thought of wasting the money I had already invested to have no return.

And then things went downhill.

I, although I don't like to admit it, was absorbed into the TCI cult-like atmosphere. It's still astonishing to me that people around me could see it and I couldn't. When you are in it, everything seems good. It's when you're eyes are opened that it all becomes very very ugly.

I was attending the Selling From The Stage program when Sharon Pearson shared with the group that she had modelled TCI on the principles of Jonestown, the cult in which more than 900 people died as a result of drinking cyanide at the direction of the cult leader Jim Jones. Seriously? And this is whom she models? Fortunately, this was said on the day she decided to film the course. And I have the DVDs.

My friend and I were both offered jobs at TCI. My friend accepted but I declined. And later I would become very glad that I did. Over the course of the following year, I saw my strong, confident, dynamic friend slowly decline, morphing into a shell of her former self, her confidence and self-esteem eaten away by the constant berating from SP. Nothing she did was good enough, no hours she worked were enough. The crunch came for her at a weekend at SP's coastal retreat when during a roundtable discussion one woman was determined as being NOT on the company bus, meaning not really part of the team and everyone at the table took turns in decimating her character until she was reduced to a gibbering mess. My friend stood up and bravely resigned on the spot. She said there were two reasons, one being that that was the last straw and the second being she decided not to subject herself to the same treatment. Breaking people down does not make them stronger, it destroys them.

TCI prides itself on being a cult. And if you are not in the cult, you are out of the cult, and that means you don't exist to them. Your phone stops ringing, and you experience isolation and withdrawal as you come to terms with what has happened to you, that the past few years have all been an illusion and there was nothing real except the thousands of dollars you expended.

On a side note, for those who are interested, my understanding from a very good source is that the sudden voluntary departure of lauded NLP trainer, AH (allegedly for having not been paid in more than six months) triggered the crisis with the ABNLP as SP scrambled to hold on to students who were walking out the door on day one of NLP training when they found AH had gone.

I rang to talk about getting my certifcate, and got told, who cares about that, others are doing well without that, with this new program...

So I rang to enquire about my course completion, I wanted to get my certificates completed. In order to do so, I need to pay more money to attend what I have already paid for.

They seemed more focused on trying to upsell me onto a new program, and when they promised me what I have already signed up to. I know they full of it, they wanted me to spend another 16000 dollars to an exclusive Pro coach, after already doing my masters and learning nothing about how to truly start a business.

Beware of TCI - Once they take your money, you no longer exist.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I signed up for the 3 year "professional coach program"

I will admit that it felt like the right choice in the beginning -

The live events brought alot of hype and ticked the boxes of connection, interesting people, adequate support ...

which lasted for the first year.

After I had been upsold to many programs and to the 'highest level course'...

I have now learnt some pretty ugly truths about the school:

- It is really a sales/ marketing course masked as a 'life coaching course'

- The credentials stand for nothing outside the ICG (which was also created by TCI/ Sharon Pearson!) since being barred from other professional regulatory boards.

-At the highest level 'coaching training' events - you will mostly hear about how Sharon Pearson has scammed everyone with her sales tactics & how she has made her money (Rather than learning the ACTUAL COACHING SKILLS. The events comprised of about 20% skills training.

-It is marketed as an international course but does NOT provide adequate support for overseas students. EG No options to run at different times of day (classes are typically in the middle of the night! 3am attendance OR you will miss out.)

-The fees are exorbitant, information is outdated, largely plagiarised from Tony Robbins' work and you can find alot of the information across the internet via google!

-During a 2 hr class online / live - you will gain about 10 minutes of real, tangible skills - the rest will be low-level fluffy discussion that is hardly practical or insightful.

-I have seen many friends be employed in the WOW team & be completely broken when leaving.

- I referred a friend to the school for some coaching - to be looked after by a trusted & experienced member of the WOW team. This coach is also one of the head trainers at the school.

She paid for a month of coaching after the month was completed - he made sexual advances towards her during what was a vulnerable time.

This is not only shocking but highly unprofessional conduct.

-Lastly, the first year/ 1.5 yrs I received lots of support and was heavily involved in the community. After this time I noticed the support decreasing (even though I paid the top price for mentoring support) - The mentors' books were full, the WOW team don't respond promptly (or at all sometimes!!) - especially surrounding questions that have to do with accounts/ money due or questioning random charges on my bill. Expect to see the support drop off after a year into the training.

-I have been in a training before where the entire training was asked to write a positive review on a forum to 'bump down' a negative review. Everyone who wrote a positive review was rewarded with cake and champagne (and there were members of the team standing at the door to ensure you were writing a review)

Overall, extremely dissatisfied and wouldn't recommend this school to anyone.

A Lot of Good Material BUT A Lot of Lies Also...

The Coaching Institute tells people to sign up for the MASTER COACH program and they say you have WEEKLY ACCESS to a mentor.

This is a lie.

After my first mentoring session they said the next available spot was 4 weeks.

After a couple of monthly mentoring sessions it stretched out to every 6 weeks.

Guys come on.

Also they say that in your values that "HONESTY" doesn't need to be a VALUE it should just be a given. But it's not a given.

Clear as day is the 'weekly mentoring' versus 6 weekly mentoring.

And if you complain they see it as "You are just being AT EFFECT."

So they shout people down from complaining.

2. Also the course requires you to complete a series of online webinars. The webinars are spaced out so if you miss one it may not be repeated for another 12 months. Some of these webinars are key to passing your certificates. If you miss the webinar and your course time runs out then you have the option of enrolling for another year which is around $1000.

3. What people do not know is that 97% of students NEVER complete their courses and get their accreditations.

This is pretty sad. I think Australian Education in the Government needs to investigate this as this is a very LOW completion rate. Especially for the high costs involved.

I experienced something similar, I had mentors who didn't call when they said they would call, then when I tried to call the mentor they were always busy and I'd get fobbed off onto a new mentor only to be told how lucky I am to have access to free mentoring. The standard of their mentoring is sub standard and comes with a sales pitch to upgrade or buy yet another programme. Mentors don't sell they mentor.

TCI looks like a lot if fun. It's not like a normal TAFE or university. The main differences are that at TCI:

- you dance during your education

- your lecturers swear all the time

- it costs a load of money

- it's a cult

- if you give them any money you will regret it

*** people to make money by using emotional manipulation

This is one company that you need to stay away from. They pretty much give you VIP treatment until you sign their contract. Known to use NLP technique, hypnosis on potential customers to get them to sign up with them.

Terrible at resolving problems or getting back to your queries when you confront them. They are definitely not value-focused! And big time sales-focus. If anything you'd want to learn from them, it's not the coaching bullocks they sell. It's really their sales method.

Beware of The Coaching Institute and the programs that it offers that promises to show you how to make money. As it is treacherous and big scam for those that are wanting to make quick money.

My experience with TCI was after my initial enquiry, they constantly hounded me to sign up. I had one particular sales person call me and she would have an in-depth chat to me about whether coaching was right for me etc.

Which was great for some information, but interesting how she was really trying to build a solid trusting relationship with me. I kind of found it a bit unsettling the way we had our big chat and I made it clear I wasn't ready to join but she continued to follow up with me and see if I was ready.

I 'get' that they want to make peoples lives better (or so they say) but seriously when someone says they aren't ready, listen and stop hassling them! Their sales pitch really put me off what was potentially an investment that I was keen to make with them.

Guest

It's quite interesting to see how people really dislike sales focused businesses and then believe that they are going to be successful in business without it themselves.. Anytime I see an amazing sales person I do start thinking - how do they do that?

and how can I do this in my business? but then there are others that just 'dis' this because they don't see the learning opportunity.

Guest

haha oh dear I'm sorry but hypnosis techniques and NLP to get you to buy??? If that was actually the case which it's not…you would be so impressed at the skill that you would want to learn how to do it too!! Imagine if everyone knew how to hypnotise and NLP people into selling… Goodbye marketing campaigns…hello hypnosis and NLP!!!

How does a 2yr Diploma = make quick money????

I've seen get rich quick schemes and it's usually a "get rich in 24 hrs" kinda thing…NOT "here, do a course and attend these training's for 2 yrs and build your business as you go, oh and you're financial reward will be equal to the effort you put in to implementing what you learn…."

Seriously the mind boggles!!

Guest

Absolutely ... they are all gloss, not substance ... once you've signed up they load you up with lots of useless substandard resources like large ring binder folders with few pages, most of it readily available. Nothing new, certainly nothing worth paying $10k+ for. Then when you try to withdraw, they try to charge you for the whole course because they've chosen to provide you with everything up front ... say you feel obliged to pay for it. Or not ... dont'!

Please be aware ... many x-TCI students are currently going through legal proceedings with RTO regulatory body ASQA and CAV - consumer affairs Victoria to try to recover fees. ASQA has been heavily auditing this RTO for the past 14 months and are cancelling their RTO status by 9 December 2013.

TCI will tell you that doesn't matter because they have set up their own industry body - ICG which is really just them saying their courses are accredited :( .. but that means nothing in the real world.

Don't be fooled.

Guest
reply icon Replying to comment of Guest-742780

I think it's pretty impressive that although they have been heavily audited for the past 14 months they have passed every single "test" and still remain an RTO. Anyone who deals with the RTO "expectations" knows how hard you have to work , the hours and hours of jumping through their hoops to get their tick of approval. Do you know how many hundreds of RTO businesses have actually shut down because of not being able to meet the RTO expectations. I think all credit to TCI for winning the game!

The ICG was absolute brilliance…genius even. Sharon Pearson saw a need in the industry to have a standards body that would recognise and protect the industry across the GLOBE…ummm…I think THANK YOU is what's in order here…. What about the international students who are prepared to fly here for this level of education and go home only to be told…"sorry Australian RTO course means nothing here we don't recognise you as a professional in your field" Gee I bet they are grateful to know that this innovation in the market will give them the credibility they desire.

So I'm wondering…you buy a book read it…don't like it….then ask for you money back…and that works??? hahaha I don't think so!!! I am seriously at a loss at the mentality of the complainers… :upset

Guest
reply icon Replying to comment of Guest-755261

Guest
reply icon Replying to comment of Guest-801454

Guest

Absolutely agree - do not go near TCI. They'll fleece you for everything you've got, give you a pile of useless manuals & hypnotise you into thinking its fabulous!! I'm curious to know exactly how many people have made money after doing their courses.

Guest
reply icon Replying to comment of Guest-741766

Never-mind AFTER the course…most students make money DURING the course...because what is contained in the manuals that you deem as useless is actually information that other people out there in the world are grateful to seek out and pay for.

For example, one coach I know is a professional trainer in workplace organisational skills who has now double his income by incorporating the NLP trainings into his own skill set

Another coach I know works with people who want to change the shape/size of their bodies wether for personal or competitive reasons and has a flourishing business that is now spreading out to other states and growing at an incredible rate…I'm pretty sure her income is satisfying.

Another coach I know just told me how chuffed she was to be earning $50,000 a month for the first time in her life and she is just using the coaching models.

Those manuals you diss so quickly actually contain the information to assist you to make your course fees back in 90 days.

Gee I'm wondering if you ever actually SAW the content of those manuals at all???

As a current and long term student at TCI I am happy to recommend this institution to anyone who wants a career with a real purpose. It is rewarding and fulfilling. As a single Mum I have the added bonus of empowering my children with strategies for their own success and a business model that will teach them how to make money from whatever they choose to learn.

Guest
reply icon Replying to comment of Guest-755255

mate, if your for real about them being good, why didn't you put your name,

Interesting hey, "as a single mum"

18months, 1 person from my intake made good money, he was already set before coming. I haven't heard anyone else achieving much.

I went pretty full at it. Made my money back in around 8 months.

Up Selling and Money Grabbing

Since enrolling with The Coaching Institute, seeing the way they gush over people and give people money for attending their Melbourne office for "Induction", you think Wow they are great. After about 4 hours in a room with the facilitator talking about himself and swearing, saying he only "chooses to work 15 days a month and lives extremely well", I thought this could be that he "excited" to have new recruits in the building!!

Seeing first hand how and what The Coaching Institute does is just terrible. I attended a workshop over a weekend where you bring 2 people with you so you can share about what you are doing and the great things you can do moving forward. HA what a joke. Nothing but up selling and trying to get my friends enrolled into coaching.

I was humiliated and embarrassed.

I have withdrawn from my course and am awaiting my refund to which I think I will never get. I hope they are investigated and held accountable for their disgusting business practices.

Can't believe the greed of TCI when attending one of their training courses we were offered recordings of the course at a small cost of $1000 for the recordings to cover her costs.

The upselling never stops, and since when did coaching become all about sales and upselling?

I joined not because I want to sell to people, because I wat to help people live their lives more fully.

The upselling never stops, they offer bonus Webinars which on the surface look great and then about half an hour into them the sales pitch begins. One trainer spends half an hour waffling on and then begins his sales pitch.

I wish they would stop wasting students time on offering bonus Webinars that are yet another sales pitch,

Their latest upsell is to get people to sign up for for a "your success package"at the intake weekend after they get your money for that 12 months later they offer you an affiliate package that you can sign other people up for.

It's the same programme they sell you in the intake weekend, basically they convince Yu to buy the same package twice. No wonder SP is making money, mm and all the claims for the amount of students they have had pass through their doors looks great however I do wonder how many of those students have actually completed the course and gained a qualification

I Agree with you, I was up selled one week end and it was the biggest mistake i ever made financally. I have been sent an amount owing that is double what i signed up for, which by the way i have paid off more than the original course price.

It is all hype and the swearing is over the top.

Be aware of the "free events" - they are a ploy to get you to sign up for a "pay event"

Be aware of the staff. They sales people and their loyalty and pay packets come from the owner.

And the owner wants sales. Lots. Of. Sales.

The Coaching Institute is shiny, bright and loud. And it wants your cash.

All of it.

Well Said!!

Good Luck with getting your money back......there are ex students who have paid over $50K to this scam with no certificate to show for the waste of time, effort, money and lies they were told. For God's sake, will someone report them o a Current Affair????

This company must be investigated, they are sending the most wonderful people over the edge and very broke. They make promises of six figure incomes and it's all ***!!!! they give life coaching a very bad name.

DO NOT sign anything that The Coaching Institute offer. It's an absolute scam!!

To make the six figure sums you would need to earn $400 from coaching every week day. TCI show you the few people who say they have achieved this but most are lucky to make $400 a week.

It's all show and hype. Mind you - it's a good money spinner for SP. Good on her - she's definitely earning a good six figure sum.

Warning: They are only accredited with The International Coach Guild - sound good?

THEY OWN IT!

Of course they are accredited with a body they own. Clever stuff.

I didn't know that they owned the Accreditation company? They told me it was a recognised course! LOL it is recognised by them!!

I am currently going through financial and mental health hardship and have been trying to get commuincation about withdrawing. The only communication i can get is from the finance section.

My son has had adverse effects due to unprofessional, immoral coaching, and they will not communicate about that either. Does anyone know where i can go as yes they are threatening legal action against me now.

Why? Are they threatening legal action? I just attended a free seminar on the weekend

They manipulated and pressured me to sign up for pro coach, i tried to withdrawal because of their bullying, unethical, poor quality and extremely money hungry materials and teachings. After them direct debating $6,550 from my account, when I tried to cancel, withdrawal and get a refund they didn’t listen to any reason instead they said I owed them a further $10,280, a debt collection has now contacted me saying I now owe the institute $18,802. It’s never ending they will just try and continue getting as much money as they can outve you.And all I did was go to the three day foundations intro weekend.

Yes, once you sign up you’re theirs forever.. mmmwahhahahaha (evil laugh).

They are professional marketers and you’re their cash cow. They’ll spoil you and entice you with all their “gifts”. After a few months the attitude changes. Just make sure before you sign up that you ask for a copy of the contract so that your solicitor can peruse it for you.

Then get a solicitor to actually go through it with you. It might cost you $120.00 but worth it. Get a free Lawyers consultation even maybe? As SP says in her video clip....she doesn’t even tell you what you’re getting. Just wants you to trust her and if you struggle at all with anything it’s all your fault because of course...you’re not committed.

Couldn’t you tell at the free seminar that it was a bits “strange”. Sort of weird how everyone is enthralled like sheep? It’s all about Sales. Sell, sell, sell and it’s you they’re selling too.

They want you to buy!!They’ve trained 1,000’s of Life Coaches or have they? Ask your friends if they’d pay to see one?

Just do your research and homework. Anyone can hang a shingle up tomorrow and be a Life Coach.Get in contact with Max or contact me.Cheers Annie.....................kydalla@***.com.au................

Class action

Calling all disgruntled former students and employees

I am wanting to organise a Class Action against The Coaching Institute

If you are interested in joining the class action please contact me at

classactionlc@***.com

I am a former student who was bullied and manipulated, I tried to cancel the course earlier on but i was told I have to pay the full amount (over $20,000) even though I only attended the three day foundation course which was extremely boring and full of constant upselling and marketing. The service and products are not original, outdated and very poor quality. They are all just in it for the money and will bully and pressure you to buy everything and sign up for Pro Coach program even if you don’t have the finances they don’t care and they will still pressure you to join the Institute, promising unrealistic expectations and opportunities as a life coach. There is soo much more to say

The coaching institute

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I joined The coaching institute about 8 months ago and my goodness, worst most unethical 'school' i have come accross. The whole thing is just an illusion to squeeze you for every penny.

I am currently investigating them and trying to secure a refund. Have been since november, now it has gotten to the point where they are avoiding any communication except for where 'money owed' is concerned, its rediculous. I am making complaints to the ACCC and am going to be seeking legal advice. Has anyone been able to withdraw and secure a refund?

Please let me know. Anyone looking into coaching for goodness sake stay away from these people and look elsewhere, your toilet paper is worth more than the certificate as they arent even recognised or accredited and have been investigated by SBS.

Thank you in advance for any advice and please email me @ sparklyted@***.com! X
