WARNING: DO NOT SIGN UP!! TCI USES EMOTIONAL MANIPULATION TO GET YOUR MONEY IN A CULT LIKE ENVIRONMENT
This so called ‘school’ is only about manipulation and brainwashing people. They are only INTERESTED IN YOU MONEY - not education or training at all.
They over promise something they cannot deliver and they tell you that it is YOUR FAULT. TCI is a cult like environment. For more info on the way TCI operates, read the “Disturbing allegations and legal disputes: Inside 'Australia's #1 Life Coaching School”. They are an embarrassment to Australia.
Let’s spread the word.
Call Consumer Affairs Victoria and send them your contract and they will assist you. Also, add negative comments to their Facebook page or the videos they have on youtube. They cannot remove the comments from Youtube. Also report them with ACCC.
This needs to stop!!!
For a refund, go to a local court and ask for a petty claim against them.
TCI could not be bothered going to a local court. Keep pushing!

Money eater
When you realize the course is rubbish and wanted to quit, they would refer the rules in a so called student handbook and ask you to pay the rest of the course.
However, the handbook was not mention and not available during the process of your sign up. But if you use search engine in their website put key word “ student hand book”, you will find out its there and put in a very tricky way that you do need pay the whole course no matter how shifty the course is.

Do yourself a huge favour and walk away from TCI..a friend spent over $50K on their so called education and they could not give her the "diploma" she had signed up for....they are NOT a coaching business, they are a sales and marketing business run by an ex real estate agent and a failed story writer (who wrote about criminology mind you) and also has a degree in commerce. Sharon Pearson openly admitted that each person that comes through her doors is a potential $20K increase in her annual income.
They are raking in millions of dollars a year by selling you something they insist you need rather than giving you what you want. If you get sucked in, you will become an avid believer for a time......until you finally wake up to yourself, and to them and the thousands of dollars they have fleeced from you. You'll then have to somehow pick up the pieces of your life and they will crush you to make you continue to "pay out your contract" because of the "financial commitment" you made to them. They'll call in debt collectors, threaten you with lawyers and literally send people to knock on your door for the money they say you owe them.
Good people have lost their marriages, their homes and their financial freedom because of the cunning strategies of "The coaching institute"......If you do get caught and sucked in and finally wake up to the scam, go directly to the consumer affairs website to discover just how many laws they have breeched!!
VCAT have seen many cases now and I believe they will be seeing many more..... ASQA, VCAT, ABNLP and ACCC are sick to death of hearing about this company and the 1000s of people who have been burnt by them.
Good and Bad..and then mostly ugly
I commenced with TCI very positively in 2010. I started with the intake weekend which is what it was called back then. During the weekend I was sold into the Diploma program. I think I am one of few people who actually completed it. The reason I expended the effort of completing the program was that I loathed the thought of wasting the money I had already invested to have no return.
And then things went downhill.
I, although I don't like to admit it, was absorbed into the TCI cult-like atmosphere. It's still astonishing to me that people around me could see it and I couldn't. When you are in it, everything seems good. It's when you're eyes are opened that it all becomes very very ugly.
I was attending the Selling From The Stage program when Sharon Pearson shared with the group that she had modelled TCI on the principles of Jonestown, the cult in which more than 900 people died as a result of drinking cyanide at the direction of the cult leader Jim Jones. Seriously? And this is whom she models? Fortunately, this was said on the day she decided to film the course. And I have the DVDs.
My friend and I were both offered jobs at TCI. My friend accepted but I declined. And later I would become very glad that I did. Over the course of the following year, I saw my strong, confident, dynamic friend slowly decline, morphing into a shell of her former self, her confidence and self-esteem eaten away by the constant berating from SP. Nothing she did was good enough, no hours she worked were enough. The crunch came for her at a weekend at SP's coastal retreat when during a roundtable discussion one woman was determined as being NOT on the company bus, meaning not really part of the team and everyone at the table took turns in decimating her character until she was reduced to a gibbering mess. My friend stood up and bravely resigned on the spot. She said there were two reasons, one being that that was the last straw and the second being she decided not to subject herself to the same treatment. Breaking people down does not make them stronger, it destroys them.
TCI prides itself on being a cult. And if you are not in the cult, you are out of the cult, and that means you don't exist to them. Your phone stops ringing, and you experience isolation and withdrawal as you come to terms with what has happened to you, that the past few years have all been an illusion and there was nothing real except the thousands of dollars you expended.
On a side note, for those who are interested, my understanding from a very good source is that the sudden voluntary departure of lauded NLP trainer, AH (allegedly for having not been paid in more than six months) triggered the crisis with the ABNLP as SP scrambled to hold on to students who were walking out the door on day one of NLP training when they found AH had gone.

I rang to talk about getting my certifcate, and got told, who cares about that, others are doing well without that, with this new program...
So I rang to enquire about my course completion, I wanted to get my certificates completed. In order to do so, I need to pay more money to attend what I have already paid for.
They seemed more focused on trying to upsell me onto a new program, and when they promised me what I have already signed up to. I know they full of it, they wanted me to spend another 16000 dollars to an exclusive Pro coach, after already doing my masters and learning nothing about how to truly start a business.
Beware of TCI - Once they take your money, you no longer exist.
I signed up for the 3 year "professional coach program"
I will admit that it felt like the right choice in the beginning -
The live events brought alot of hype and ticked the boxes of connection, interesting people, adequate support ...
which lasted for the first year.
After I had been upsold to many programs and to the 'highest level course'...
I have now learnt some pretty ugly truths about the school:
- It is really a sales/ marketing course masked as a 'life coaching course'
- The credentials stand for nothing outside the ICG (which was also created by TCI/ Sharon Pearson!) since being barred from other professional regulatory boards.
-At the highest level 'coaching training' events - you will mostly hear about how Sharon Pearson has scammed everyone with her sales tactics & how she has made her money (Rather than learning the ACTUAL COACHING SKILLS. The events comprised of about 20% skills training.
-It is marketed as an international course but does NOT provide adequate support for overseas students. EG No options to run at different times of day (classes are typically in the middle of the night! 3am attendance OR you will miss out.)
-The fees are exorbitant, information is outdated, largely plagiarised from Tony Robbins' work and you can find alot of the information across the internet via google!
-During a 2 hr class online / live - you will gain about 10 minutes of real, tangible skills - the rest will be low-level fluffy discussion that is hardly practical or insightful.
-I have seen many friends be employed in the WOW team & be completely broken when leaving.
- I referred a friend to the school for some coaching - to be looked after by a trusted & experienced member of the WOW team. This coach is also one of the head trainers at the school.
She paid for a month of coaching after the month was completed - he made sexual advances towards her during what was a vulnerable time.
This is not only shocking but highly unprofessional conduct.
-Lastly, the first year/ 1.5 yrs I received lots of support and was heavily involved in the community. After this time I noticed the support decreasing (even though I paid the top price for mentoring support) - The mentors' books were full, the WOW team don't respond promptly (or at all sometimes!!) - especially surrounding questions that have to do with accounts/ money due or questioning random charges on my bill. Expect to see the support drop off after a year into the training.
-I have been in a training before where the entire training was asked to write a positive review on a forum to 'bump down' a negative review. Everyone who wrote a positive review was rewarded with cake and champagne (and there were members of the team standing at the door to ensure you were writing a review)
Overall, extremely dissatisfied and wouldn't recommend this school to anyone.

A Lot of Good Material BUT A Lot of Lies Also...
The Coaching Institute tells people to sign up for the MASTER COACH program and they say you have WEEKLY ACCESS to a mentor.
This is a lie.
After my first mentoring session they said the next available spot was 4 weeks.
After a couple of monthly mentoring sessions it stretched out to every 6 weeks.
Guys come on.
Also they say that in your values that "HONESTY" doesn't need to be a VALUE it should just be a given. But it's not a given.
Clear as day is the 'weekly mentoring' versus 6 weekly mentoring.
And if you complain they see it as "You are just being AT EFFECT."
So they shout people down from complaining.
2. Also the course requires you to complete a series of online webinars. The webinars are spaced out so if you miss one it may not be repeated for another 12 months. Some of these webinars are key to passing your certificates. If you miss the webinar and your course time runs out then you have the option of enrolling for another year which is around $1000.
3. What people do not know is that 97% of students NEVER complete their courses and get their accreditations.
This is pretty sad. I think Australian Education in the Government needs to investigate this as this is a very LOW completion rate. Especially for the high costs involved.
MASTER COACH ENROLLEE, TCI.
*** people to make money by using emotional manipulation
This is one company that you need to stay away from. They pretty much give you VIP treatment until you sign their contract. Known to use NLP technique, hypnosis on potential customers to get them to sign up with them.
Terrible at resolving problems or getting back to your queries when you confront them. They are definitely not value-focused! And big time sales-focus. If anything you'd want to learn from them, it's not the coaching bullocks they sell. It's really their sales method.
Beware of The Coaching Institute and the programs that it offers that promises to show you how to make money. As it is treacherous and big scam for those that are wanting to make quick money.
Up Selling and Money Grabbing
Since enrolling with The Coaching Institute, seeing the way they gush over people and give people money for attending their Melbourne office for "Induction", you think Wow they are great. After about 4 hours in a room with the facilitator talking about himself and swearing, saying he only "chooses to work 15 days a month and lives extremely well", I thought this could be that he "excited" to have new recruits in the building!!
Seeing first hand how and what The Coaching Institute does is just terrible. I attended a workshop over a weekend where you bring 2 people with you so you can share about what you are doing and the great things you can do moving forward. HA what a joke. Nothing but up selling and trying to get my friends enrolled into coaching.
I was humiliated and embarrassed.
I have withdrawn from my course and am awaiting my refund to which I think I will never get. I hope they are investigated and held accountable for their disgusting business practices.
The TRUTH about TCI!
TCI are only happy TAKING YOUR MONEY but when they OWE YOU MONEY...that is when their TRUE colours really shine. TCI are THEIVES.
All they're interested in is GREED to support THEIR lifestyle. They sell the idea of what YOUR HAPPINESS should/could look like on a shiny platter...but don't be fooled.
SAVE YOUR MONEY! You DON'T need TCI to align with your happiness.

Calling all disgruntled former students and employees
I am wanting to organise a Class Action against The Coaching Institute
If you are interested in joining the class action please contact me at

I am a former student who was bullied and manipulated, I tried to cancel the course earlier on but i was told I have to pay the full amount (over $20,000) even though I only attended the three day foundation course which was extremely boring and full of constant upselling and marketing. The service and products are not original, outdated and very poor quality. They are all just in it for the money and will bully and pressure you to buy everything and sign up for Pro Coach program even if you don’t have the finances they don’t care and they will still pressure you to join the Institute, promising unrealistic expectations and opportunities as a life coach. There is soo much more to say
- Lack of credible qualifications
- Money grabbing
- Poor curriculum

The coaching institute
I joined The coaching institute about 8 months ago and my goodness, worst most unethical 'school' i have come accross. The whole thing is just an illusion to squeeze you for every penny.
I am currently investigating them and trying to secure a refund. Have been since november, now it has gotten to the point where they are avoiding any communication except for where 'money owed' is concerned, its rediculous. I am making complaints to the ACCC and am going to be seeking legal advice. Has anyone been able to withdraw and secure a refund?
Please let me know. Anyone looking into coaching for goodness sake stay away from these people and look elsewhere, your toilet paper is worth more than the certificate as they arent even recognised or accredited and have been investigated by SBS.
Thank you in advance for any advice and please email me @ sparklyted@***.com! X
