ME too! Did you watch their getting started DVD?

I was highly dubious of their Head Trainer Joe Pane from the get go. He made me fall asleep!Life Coaching should be engaging and fun! Not "hard work", it should come naturally. Check out Shawn Achor, he is amazing!

Funny, engaging, informative and REAL! He walks his talk and he smiles!!Thank you to all those that posted on this forum. I am truly sorry that you have been subjected to such horrible circumstances. I hope it doesn't put you off wanting to become a life coach.

I'm inspired to start my own business now!I honestly don't think Sharon is the problem. Take a close look at Joe Pane. He's so stiff and his eyes are cold. He also CLEARLY states on "his" DVD that he was in it for the money!

Where's your PASSION dude??? And to answer your question buddy, yes. I have PLENTY of life experience. I didn't just read from a textbook like you clearly have.

Wink wink. Come meet me sometime :)

Not scared, going to fight this to the Supreme if need be. Already sought Legal Action at our end. TCI are not going to frighten or bully anymore, they’ve breached too many Consumer Affairs Regulations. I don’t care if she drives to Court in her Rolls Royce Wraith that’s worth twice my Castle!!

I worked in Student Support at The Coaching Institute for a few months whilst completing my Diploma of Life Coaching there. It was the worst role I have ever had, feeling bullied for not making enough sales.

I thought when taking the job, I was literally going to be providing student's with high quality support - but the truth is, the purpose of the department's true intention is to act as the second 'sales department' for upselling.

It was unethical and I refused to abide by what they expected of me, upselling courses to students who were already under financial pressure or who didn't need it.. so I got bullied and ended up leaving soon after. I saw too many students (and experienced it myself) being put into stressful financial situations, racking up tens of thousands of debt when being sold to in a peak state, promising us grand outcomes for our lives.

It's very difficult to withdraw from TCI without losing money.

I lost $1K withdrawing from a course purely because I was unable to pay for all the other courses I had signed up with them (and that's a very small amount compared to others).

As a student I really enjoyed the organisation and didn't uncover the true 'dark side' until I went to work there.

I can affirm that the training was fantastic, I loved the environment, made great friends and I'm glad that I experienced it.

But it does seem like none of it was original from Sharon Pearson - it looks to be a copy of already existing material. I also don't like how SP has produced herself to appear like a rock star.

The Coaching Institute

Hello, I would like to bring to your attention the following organization: The Coaching Institute Life Coach Address: 40/37-39 Albert Rd, Melbourne VIC 3004 Phone: 1800 09* 927 I have several enquires as follows: 1. Are they a registered business (ABN)? 2. Are they a registered training organization (RTO)? 3.Are they permitted, under law, to promote and take significant monies from consumers by misleading them as a ‘life coach’ which, in the end, supplies dubious/questionable (eg. in house ‘diplomas’) qualifications and (after much research) the qualifications the ‘life coach’ receives are not real qualifications, not certified (only the pretext of a Certificate IV in Life Coaching which appears to be the cover up) ,nor recognized by any Australian (State or Federal) educational systems or departments? This appears to be a fraudulent organization, a scam (ie. sales and marketing business masquerading as life coaching) and is indoctrinating consumers on false pretences (as well as taking significant money). It warrants a full investigation by the relevant authorities. Footnote: The Coaching Institute (TCI) is not accredited anywhere - even by the Australian Board of NLP (a community of coaches).

@PissedConsumer1514749

Hi PissedConsumer151****, just wondering if you're still monitoring the comments here?

#1166058

Not an ethical coaching school to sign up with.

Sharon Pearson started her own coaching guild after being banned from the Australian NLP federation for breaching there code of ethics on more than one occasion.

They lied on documents

There was issues with sexual misconduct during a class

There were also issues with bullying students

This all happened around 2013 Not sure what is happening right now at TCI as once again they are changing their curriculum.

My advice do your homework, check out other Coaching Schools and check out that they are a registered RTO, and have membership with international recognised Coaching Organizations.

My thoughts TCI has lost it's values, forgotten they call themselves a Coaching Institute and instead have become an expensive Business School where their certificates are worth nothing more than the paper they are written on. If you want a business and marketing degree go to TAFE or University and with the money you save, go and do a coaching course with an accredited Coaching School.

#1167560
@PissedConsumer1166058

Spot on! And if you dare to question the institute or those who work there (including SP, ML or MC) then you will feel the full force of exclusion and bullying.

If you decide to join be ready to pay big fees for a "school" that cannot be criticised.

#1168564
@PissedConsumer1167560

I agree, very expensive school to sign up with, where their fees are over inflated their courses are designed for those wanting to be at the high end of corporate or sales coaching.

They are very good at selling and upselling especially in the early days, the intake weekend has very little content however it's full of hyped up sales tactics designed to get students to sign up for a higher and more costly course.

If you question anything they put everything back onto you not being committed.

They call themselves the number one coaching institute in Australia who says and compared to what other schools

You can get great coaching skills and qualifications that are accepted internationally and statewide for 1/4 of the price TCI charges.

#1153859

I agree the TCI do appear to be a sales and marketing business masquerading as a Coaching School.

They must be doing something right as they are making millions, especially the owner who claims to have invented Meta Dynamics which is nothing more than NLP in a different accent with some sales and marketing added, much of what is taught can be found on Google and for free.

#1152761

Hi in answer to your questions

Yes they are a registered business with an abn

Yes they are a registered Training organisation (RTO)

The TCI is not accredited with any other coaching organisations due to breaches of their code of ethics.

However TCI has formed their own guild called the International Coaching Guild - it isn't recognised by any other coaching bodies and students can join so they can get business insurance.

I wouldn't go as far as to say they are fraudulent, however their courses are highly over priced, and a lot of their material can be found elsewhere on the Internet.

S Pearson the owner doesn't care about coaching or her students what she cares about is how much money she can make and brag about it. My advice there are much better coaching schools who won't cost you big money and you will get an internationally regogonised coaching diploma that is regogonised internationally

Lack of Ethics at TCI

I completed a free weekend intake as a friend asked me to attend with them. It was quite weird and I could not put my finger on it but there is something not quite right about TCI. I looked around on the net. TCI is not accredited anywhere - even by the Australian Board of NLP (a community of coaches). Visit: http://www.abnlp.org.au/nlptrainer - they do not recognise TCI because they have breached their Code of Ethics. TCI - a very suspect education provider. Be wary. Do your homework. Think before you hand over your first dollar.

And the training and bills never end. Once you finish a free course you pay for another course.

Then they suggest that you need to do another course, then join this organisation, then do Meta, then another course...........and when you tell them you don't want to do another $5000 course TCI tell you that you are not committed to being a professional coach. ARRGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.

#1136720

I love the internet as it gives me a chance to see how other customers have had experience with businesses. The Coaching Institute sure looks good in the flesh and on the net. It seems not everyone has been impressed with this education provider.

#1113155

I agree do your homework before signing up with them - not that they give you much of a chance to make a well informed decision - they bombard you with emails, phone calls, post cards and even chocolate - this is a tactic used to get you to buy into a very expensive course that only cares about making $$$$$$$ - to learn this tactic read the book "Influence" by Robert Cialdini (recommended by the TCI)

SP says she started the TCI 11 years ago after failing as a crime writer, what she doesn't add is that she was a very successful marketer 23 years ago

I can't get out of my contract with the TCI - please, please before you sign up with them spend some money and get a lawyer to go through the so called contract with you - that is if you can get an actual copy of what it is you are signing up for and a proper invoice.

#1131883
@PissedConsumer1113155

I agree, Please do your homework. I am trying to get out myself, but the payout figure is so over inflated.

The initial course i signed up for was about $3000 of which i have now paid over $4000 in 7 months, and they say i owe them another $8000.

BE VERY CAREFUL. IT IS A RIP OF COMPANY!!!!

Narla, could you please get in contact with Annie or Max, are you still in the same situation with them? Have they had ARL Debt Collectors in contact with you yet?

Have they threatened you with being on their Lawyers List. That begs the question of “there’s a List”?

That’s a worry saying they have a list in the first place. Tell us what happened, could everyone tell us what’s happened to them as we’re doing something about it.....Contact....kydalla@***.com.au....instagram@***s......

Wow, wow, wow!

Here i was thinking this institute is for me. Maybe not now after ready all these reviews.

It really does pay to do some investigation before signing up to any agreement.

Will do a lot for thinking, and investigating before giving this organisation a cent.

Thanks for sharing.

'Feeling Confused' sounds just like pyramid selling to me!

#1131884
@PissedConsumer1088401

I Thought it was good at first, then I heard of others saying they needed to get out for financial reasons, but has not been able to get out. It wasn't until i lost my job that i needed to get out also, and that has been an ordeal and threatening texts and emails of legal action, even though i had contacted them to tell them the situation.

#1084213

Practically they feed the audience with anything they want to hear. That is why it is so confusing.

They go from glorifying churches to calling women B through to sending their male staff to study feminism... Yeah quite a messed up school.
